£UV PRESENTS JEAN PIGOZZI
£UV presents a special collaboration with photographer, art collector and patron Jean ‘Johnny’ Pigozzi: a limited series of T-shirts featuring Pigozzi’s idiosyncratic photographs, made in Los Angeles. Each shirt is fronted by images of people, places and scenes documented by Pigozzi’s ever present camera.
Jean Pigozzi was born in 1952 in Paris, France, receiving his B.A. from Harvard University in 1974. He began photographing as a child documenting the lives and cultures of such cities as Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, the Côte d’Azur and beyond. Pigozzi’s style is participatory and he is often included as a subject in his work. His images elaborate on subjects as diverse as celebrities and dogs, food and cars, men and women, leisure, art and architecture.
Pigozzi’s work has been exhibited at the Musée d’Art Modern, Paris, The Moscow House of Photography, Moscow, Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing, the Helmut Newton Foundation, Berlin and Gagosian Gallery, New York. He is an avid patron of the arts and passionate collector of art. He currently lives and works between New York, London, Paris, Antibes, and Los Angeles. Several books have been published on his photography, including the forthcoming publication Jean Pigozzi: Me + Co. The Selfies: 1972- 2016, a survey of Pigozzi’s invention of the Selfie, being released in November, 2017 by Damiani.
